Our
Mission
Who is
Painting a New World
?
Painting a New World - Peindre un Nouveau Monde (PNMW) is a
non-profit organization founded in 2008 by Agnes and Andre
Chatelain.
We believe that art has the power to create positive change for
the benefit and sustainability of communities locally and in
developing countries.
In order to achieve our vision, we have designed an art project
called `The Gift of Art`in Canadian schools which engages
students by using murals as a medium for expression and
fundraising. The principal goals of the project are that
students learn about important humanitarian issues and
illustrate their creativity on their mural. They then engage local merchants and businesses to sponsor
their art work thereby contributing directly to the aid of local
and international communities. Fifty percent of the funds raised from the
project is kept by the schools to be directed to local art and
education projects of their choice, and the other fifty percent
of the funds is submitted to PNMW for international aid.
Our international art projects provide funding for art supplies
and education in visual arts to emerging artists in Africa and
Haiti, and a platform for them to sell their artwork around the
world. PNMW is currently running 7 art projects in 7 developing
countries providing art supplies, marketing and sales to 70
participating artists.
We have projects in Kenya, Ethiopia, Chad, Guinea, Rwanda,
Malawi and Haiti.
PNMW is proud to support International
mural projects in Africa and Haiti.
PNMW provides funding to local
initiatives to employ artists to design and paint murals on
school walls while engaging and educating children about their
environment and future.
In 2010 PNMW supported Kiangure Springs Environment Initiative
(KSEI) in Kenya with the
funding of one mural for the Giakanja Primary School of Tetu.
As of September 1, 2011, PNMW has funded 3 more murals in
Kenya and successfully implemented the program in Chad where
we now have one mural at the Holy Flame School of N'Djamena.
A minimum of 3 more murals will be completed in Kenya and
Chad before the end of the year.
