"My name is PASCAL OSMAN CHUMA
(picture top left above), I have been a Fine Art teacher
since 2000.I
have nurtured children's lost and hidden talents in art, exhibited children's art
with themes:
child labour, female genital mutilation, orphans, Love, food
and shelter, children living with HIV/AIDS, street children
and health care. About 7 children in the slums can now do
commercial art; like mural paintings, sign writings, batiks,
drawings, paintings, carvings, screen printing, face
painting, mosaic and collage.
A large
number of children and the youth who have the potential to
exploit their talents is large in Kenya since the government
scraped ART in primary schools.Fine Art colleges are expensive to most parents. The college I went, do not offer Art to children,
only those ones who have successfully passed through high
school.
In the year 2007we
decided to start an Art Centre called'BOBEA'
(To Excel) to give children a golden opportunity to express
themselves through art and earn an income. We are registered under the government Act."

PNMW is pleased to
display and sell the students' creative works of art.
Art is a powerful economic tool that can generate a sustainable
source of income that helps break the cycle of poverty.
